Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) invites residents to roll up their sleeves and help bring nature to life at the St. Hilary’s Church rain garden planting event on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Join us between 9 a.m. and noon at 2055 Hurontario Street, Mississauga.
“This event is a great opportunity for community members to learn first-hand how rain gardens work,” said Deborah Kenley, Program Manager, Landowner Engagement and Stewardship at Credit Valley Conservation. “By participating, you’ll see how simple landscape features can help to slow down rainwater and reduce the strain on public stormwater systems, protect our rivers and streams, and add natural beauty to our community spaces.”
The rain garden at St Hilary’s Church is generously funded by the City of Mississauga. It will showcase sustainable flood and stormwater management in the new Cooksville SNAP neighbourhood and will help address the City’s emergency preparedness objectives.
This project is led by CVC’s Greening Corporate Grounds program, which helps businesses, multi-residential and institutional properties in the Credit River Watershed access the knowledge and resources needed to implement sustainable landscaping, stormwater management and ecological restoration projects.
Registration is required by October 3 at cvc.ca/event/st-hilarys-rain-garden-planting/.
About Credit Valley Conservation (CVC)
Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is a local conservation authority established by the Ontario government in 1954 to protect, restore and enhance the natural environment of the Credit River Watershed. That watershed is the area of land where all rainfall, snowmelt and runoff drains (”sheds”) into lands and waters flowing into the Credit River. CVC creates connections between people and nature, knowledge and action. It inspires a deep appreciation for the role of nature in keeping people connected, healthy and happy. CVC is a member of Conservation Ontario.
