Trail Status

  • Various sections of the trail will be closed between Oct. 19 and Oct. 26. Locations are shown on the ECT Trail Closure Locations link below. Please check back daily for any updates to these times.
    • October 19 – Section 1 and 2
    • October 20 – Section 2
    • October 21 – Section 2
    • October 22 – Section 2 and 3
    • October 25 – Section 3 and 4
    • October 26  – Section 4

Open during operating hours

Park Hours Change

Current hours of 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. daily will change to sunrise to sunset beginning November 1. Rentals and lake use will be done for the season and admissions must be paid online at that time.

Fall Colours

  • 40% – Fall colours are slow to change this year due to warmer temperatures. Windy conditions have taken most coloured leaves down and remaining leaves are still mostly green.

Sales and Rentals

  • Watercraft rentals are not available due to high winds. 
  • Maple Products are available online for curbside pick up.
  • Tackleshare program fishing rods are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Electric motor boats are not available for 2021 due to low water levels.
  • Minnows are no longer available for the 2021 season.
  • Rentals will be closed for the season after October 31.

Activities

  • High winds, personal watercraft only. Red Flag
  • Low water levels will impact your fishing experience.
  • Northern pike, largemouth bass and panfish seasons are open.
  • Picnic tables available. Tables are not disinfected between use.
  • Lake use will close for the season on October 31.

Lake Conditions

  • High winds, personal watercraft only. Red Flag. 
  • Due to extreme low water levels the eastern arm of Island Lake is closed to all rental watercrafts. Personal watercrafts may enter this area at your own risk. Low water levels will increase staff response time to emergency situations as the shallow water is difficult to navigate. See map for details area.

Parking

  • Only pedestrian access is available at 4thAvenue in Orangeville to the Lakeside Trail. The Home Hardware parking lot is closed indefinitely for trail users. Vehicles will be towed.
  • External trail parking lots are busy on weekends, if the parking lot is full please come into the main gates to park or come back another time.

  • Canoes, kayaks and paddleboards are available on a first-come-first-serve basis on weekends and holidays only. We recommend bringing your own life jacket, if possible.
  • The park store and gatehouse are closed Monday – Friday, admission can be paid online during this time.

Facility

  • Washrooms are not available Monday – Friday

Lake Conditions

  • Lake conditions will not be posted Monday – Friday, please check local forecasts before heading to the park.

Parking may not be available during peak visitation. Avoid visiting on weekends from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Notice

  • The arch at the mill ruins has been wrapped in construction fencing due to health and safety concerns. We’re seeing an increase in visitors trying to stand on this feature which is unsafe and against park rules. The arch is not intended for foot traffic. An unobstructed photo of the arch is not available at this time.

Park Status

  • Please consider visiting on weekdays or early mornings/ late afternoons on weekends and holidays.

Trail Status

  • Construction is underway at Rattray Marsh along the Knoll Trail. Boardwalks are undergoing a renovation for overall accessibility. The Eastern section of the Knoll Trail boardwalk is completed and has access to the lookout. The Western side of the Knoll Trail is closed for construction activities. There is no access to the lookout from the West side.

  • Please consider visiting on weekdays as weekends are extremely busy. Have a back up plan if parking is full. Do not park in dangerous locations. Terra Cotta Conservation Area is close by with more parking.
