Activities

Snowmobiling is a  permitted activity on parts of  the ECT, from Station Rd in Hillsburgh through 10th line, Erin, with an current OFSC permit , Snowmobile access is provided through agreement with the Hillsburgh Snow Roamers (OFSC)

Dog Sledding  is a permitted activity on the portion of the ECT  from Winston Churchill to Cataract Rd.

Horseback Riding is  prohibited between March 15 to May 31.

Sales and Rentals

  • Rentals for ice fishing rods and snowshoes are available on a walk-in basis. Reservations for rentals are now available.
  • Heated hut rentals will not be available for the 2022 winter season.
  • Park Store is open for equipment rentals, minnows, tackle, snacks and ice auguring services.

Ice Conditions

  • Ice is 10″ average thickness with windblown snow cover.
  • Ice can be accessed off two locations in parking lot P1 and beside the Amphitheatre near parking lot P3 as noted with a yellow star on the map below. No access to the ice is permitted elsewhere as shorelines have variable conditions.
  • Please stay off ice marked in red on the map below.

Activities

  • Ice fishing is open.
  • Skating is currently closed for snow removal and surface preparation.  Expected to open in the afternoon.
  • The ice skating trail and reservable rinks on Island Lake are being prepared and are not yet available.

Parking

  • Only pedestrian access is available at 4thAvenue in Orangeville to the Lakeside Trail. The Home Hardware parking lot is closed indefinitely for trail users. Vehicles will be towed.

Trail Status

  • Trails are snow covered with icy sections; appropriate footwear is required.

Facility

  • Washrooms at P1 and P4 are open daily from 8am-6pm.

Notice

  • The arch at the mill ruins has been wrapped in construction fencing due to health and safety concerns. We’re seeing an increase in visitors trying to stand on this feature which is unsafe and against park rules. The arch is not intended for foot traffic. An unobstructed photo of the arch is not available at this time.

Trail Status

  • Construction is underway at Rattray Marsh along the Knoll Trail. Boardwalks are undergoing a renovation for overall accessibility. The Eastern section of the Knoll Trail boardwalk is completed and has access to the lookout. The Western side of the Knoll Trail is closed for construction activities. There is no access to the lookout from the West side.
  • A re-route on Silver Maple Lane is in place to by-pass construction. Please see the construction notice and map below.

Construction Notice

  • Due to the replacement of the aging sanitary sewer pumping station located at the end of Silver Birch Trail there will be no entry into the Conservation Area at intersection of Silver Birch Trail and Marshwood Place for the Silver Birch Loop Trail. This is a long term project and this notice will be in affect until further notice. For nearest entry please use either location as seen below:
    1. Stonehaven Dr.
    2. Gatehouse Dr.

  • Construction begins at Rattray Marsh next week along the Silver Maple Lane. The boardwalk and Sheridan Creek Bridge will undergo a renovation for overall accessibility and improved site drainage. Work is scheduled November to December. Access to parts of the trail will remain closed during this time, please plan your route accordingly. See map below.

Park Status

Trail Status

  • The Forest Meadow Loop is currently closed.
  • Snow and icy conditions exist; wear appropriate footwear.
  • Trails will be groomed and track set by the afternoon of January 18.
  • Use of ski and snowshoe equipment is permitted starting January 18. Rental equipment will be available starting Saturday, January 22.

Facility

  • Education Centre closed.
  • Park Store closed. Equipment rentals will resume Saturday, January 22.
  • Vault toilet washrooms located on the trails are closed for the winter.

Ice Conditions

  • Ice on Wolf Lake is 6″ average thickness.
  • Access to Wolf Lake is only permitted at the first lookout on Terra Cotta Lane just past Station 12 for ice skating starting January 15th.
  • Dangerous ice conditions are present at both lookouts on the west end of the lake.  Please stay off the ice at these locations.

Activities

  • Drop in skating is open on Wolf Lake. Maximum capacity of 10 people per rink.
  • The ice skating trail and reservable rinks on Wolf Lake are being prepared and are not yet available.
  • The covered ice rink at the Wetland Pavilion is available now to book beginning January 15th here
  • Ski lessons will commence Saturday, January 22.
