Fountain Maintenance

  • The fountain will be shut down for maintenance on Wednesday July 16, 2025.

Reservations are available

  • Reservations can be made here.
  • No same day reservations. Drive-in spots are available on a first come first serve basis when space allows.

Trail Status

  • While construction of the linear works for the Erin Wastewater System Project and restoration is ongoing, the trail will be closed to the public. Sections of the trail are now closed until approximately September 2027. The CVC-owned portion of the ECT between 6th Line and Trafalgar Road in Hillsburgh and the portion between 10th Line, Erin Village to Cataract Road, Town of Caledon will remain open during construction. Lake Conditions

  • Calm conditions, all watercraft permitted. Green Flag.

Sales and Rentals

  • Fishing rod rentals are available.
  • Fat tire bike rentals are not available.
  • Stand-up paddleboard rentals are available when conditions permit. Online reservations can be made here.
  • Canoe and kayak rentals are available when conditions permit. Online reservations can be made here
  • Electric boat rentals are no longer offered as a service at Island Lake Conservation Area. We are always reviewing and adjusting our services. Increased fluctuations in water levels are affecting our ability to ensure a high-quality and safe experience for visitors.
  • Minnows are not available in the summer season.
  • Worms are available for sale by the dozen.

Activities

  • Fishing from watercraft on the lake and shoreline fishing permitted from the southern shore; no fishing is permitted from any bridges, dams or from the Crane Gathering Site pier. Live bait from outside the conservation area is not permitted.
    • Black Crappie, Yellow Perch, Sunfish, Northern Pike and Bass are in season.
  • Picnic sites are available to rent online here or by calling 1-800-367-0890 ext. 7 between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Trail Status

  • Trail conditions are dry. Proper footwear is recommended.

Snapping Turtle Nesting Season

  • It is currently snapping turtle nesting season. Turtles will be active near trails and roadways. Please give the turtles lots of space while they are laying their eggs.

Please Stay Off Seeded Areas

  • There are some fenced off areas near the picnic spaces by parking lot P4. Please stay out of the fenced areas. This area has been seeded and should not be disturbed.

    • To purchase a ticket, login or create a Credit Valley Parks account. Once logged in, choose Admission from the menu at the top of the page and choose the park you wish to visit.

  • Please stay off the arch at the mill ruins; the infrastructure is not suitable or safe for people to stand on.

Special Events

  • Marvels of the Marsh:
    • July 19 and August 9, 2025 at 10:30 am to 12:00 pm.
    • Join Credit Valley Conservation’s education staff for a hike to learn about plants and animals that call Rattray Marsh Conservation Area their home.
    • More details available for July 19th here and August 9th here.

Trail Status

  • Region of Peel construction work on the new pump station at the Silver Birch entrance is currently underway. The trail access from Silver Birch (Station 15 on the map) is closed to the public. Please use an alternate access to the conservation area. For inquiries about this project, please contact the Region of Peel at [email protected].

Trail Closure

  • The Wetland Trail will be closed from July 14th-18th between Stations 2-3 and from station 3 to the intersection at the boardwalk crossing the wetland. Access to the rest of the trail from station 3 is available.
  • The full storybook for Tales on the Trail will not be available during that time.

Bear Sighting in Area

  • Conservation area staff have received reports of a black bear sighting near Terra Cotta CA on the Caledon Trailway.
  • Visitors are reminded to stay on trail and keep dogs on leash.
  • For more information on bear safety, please visit the Ministry of Natural Resources Bear Wise Program

Dogs off leash reminder

  • Keep all dogs on leash while visiting.

Trail Closure at Upper Credit CA – Orangeville location

  • A new pedestrian bridge is being constructed over the Credit River, north of the Thomas Lockyer bridge on Dufferin County Road 109. A section of trail on the east and west sides of the river will be closed July to November 2025 to facilitate construction. Access to the river at that location will be blocked.
