Open – Reservations Required
- Reservations are now available and can be made up to two weeks in advance of the reservation date. Book online.
Trail Status
- The South side of the Gorge Trail is currently under construction and closed to visitors. It is anticipated to be completed in July, 2022.
Activities
- To preserve nature and history at Belfountain CA, picnicking, barbequing and day-camping are not permitted. To make your picnic reservation, visit Terra Cotta CA or Island Lake CA.
- Shore fishing is temporarily not permitted until the newly planted restoration areas get established.
Parking
- Large vehicles such as buses and RV’s are not permitted due to parking restrictions.
Continued Improvements
- While the majority of the restortation of Belfountain Conservation Area is now complete, some construction will be ongoing until July 2022 while visitors are present.

Activities
- Shore fishing is available at designated locations along the south shore and from fishing piers.
- Bass Derby will take place July 16th and 17th. Information and a link to register are now available here.
- Licence Free Family Fishing takes place July 2-10. Ontario Family Fishing is a province-wide opportunity for Canadian residents to fish Ontario waters for free. The Ontario Government has designated four periods throughout the year as free fishing. Conservation Licence limits apply.
Sales and Rentals
- Minnows are in stock at the rental shop. Minnows from outside the Conservation Area are not permitted.
Lake Conditions
- High winds, personal watercraft only. Red Flag.
Trail Status
- Vicki Baron Lakeside Trail is closed from 8pm on Saturday, July 2nd until fireworks are done.

- Please consider visiting on weekdays or early mornings/late afternoons on weekends and holidays.
Park Status
- The arch at the mill ruins has been wrapped in construction fencing due to health and safety concerns. We’re seeing an increase in visitors trying to stand on this feature which is unsafe and against park rules. The arch is not intended for foot traffic. An unobstructed photo of the arch is not available at this time.

Trail Status
- Region of Peel construction work on the new pump station at the Silver Birch entrance is currently underway. The trail access from Silver Birch is closed to the public. Please use an alternate access to the conservation area. For inquiries about this project, please the Region of Peel at [email protected]
- New boardwalk construction is ongoing along the Waterfront Trail. The boardwalk is open for public use with some construction activities still ongoing.
- Removal of several hazard ash trees along the trail corridor to accommodate the new trail construction is complete. We will replace the trees at a 1:10 ratio within the conservation area.
