Dufferin Rural Water Quality Program

Discover Grants for Agri-Environmental Projects

The Dufferin Rural Water Quality Program provides funding for best management practices that improve soil and water quality. Grants for your projects may be available. For full program guidelines and application form, contact your CVC agricultural stewardship coordinator.

Grant funding provided by Dufferin County.

Eligibility

Ontario residents who own or lease land used for agriculture in Dufferin County are eligible to apply for the Dufferin Rural Water Quality Program funding.

Successful applicants are required to complete an Environmental Farm Plan prior to receiving funding for farm projects. See How to Apply for application guidelines.

If you’re not located in Dufferin County, visit our Rural Water Quality Program page to find a program in your municipality.

Costs Eligible for Reimbursement

Costs associated with eligible projects are able to be reimbursed. See Eligible Projects and Grants.

These covered costs may also include:

  • Permits required for the project
  • Purchased materials and other supplies
  • Professional fees, including fees for design, construction and supervision

Additional eligibility requirements may apply. Contact your CVC agricultural stewardship coordinator for more information.

How to Apply

    1. Complete an Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) through the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association. Visit ontariosoilcrop.org/ or call 1-800-265-9751 to get started.
    2. Connect with your CVC agricultural stewardship coordinator to confirm eligibility and arrange a site visit. Your stewardship coordinator will provide you with the application form.
    3. Submit the application to your stewardship coordinator.

Application and Reimbursement Process

    1. Your stewardship coordinator submits your application to the Rural Water Quality Program review committee on your behalf. Your project is evaluated based on its potential to protect and improve water quality.
    2. You’ll be notified in writing if your project has been approved.
    3. Proceed with your project. Keep all receipts and invoices for reimbursement.
    4. Once your project has been completed, notify your agricultural stewardship coordinator to book a final site inspection.
    5. Submit the necessary paperwork to your stewardship coordinator. This includes invoices and proof of payment for all eligible project expenses.
    6. Your grant payment will be issued following the final site inspection and receipt of paperwork.

Eligible Projects and Grants

Grants are provided to share the costs of project implementation. Grants may be combined but grant rates will be adjusted to ensure landowners don’t receive more than 100 per cent reimbursement of costs. Applicants must inform CVC if they expect to receive funding from other sources for the same project.

Innovative projects or other best practices that do not conform to Rural Water Quality Program guidelines are considered by the Steering Committee on a project-by-project basis.
