Celebrate Five Years of Hungry Hollow SNAP with Fun, Free Family Activities

October 14, 2025 – Halton Hills residents and community members are invited to enjoy a morning of fun activities and outdoor learning at Credit Valley Conservation’s (CVC) Hungry Hollow Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP) five-year celebration event on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

The free event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cedarvale Park, 181 Main Street South, Georgetown.

“We’re thrilled to be celebrating this incredible milestone at Hungry Hollow SNAP alongside community groups and residents,” said Melissa Williams, Senior Manager, Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement. “The energy and enthusiasm we’ve seen across the neighbourhood has been truly inspiring – and it’s an absolute joy to reflect on five years of meaningful progress and shared achievements.”

Visitors can take part in a variety of activities perfect for all ages, including:

  • Hands-on invasive species removal
  • Guided walk to learn how to identify local trees and birds
  • Interactive Wild Ontario booth with live birds of prey
  • Upcycled crafting workshop, including witches’ broomsticks made from buckthorn branches and nature-inspired rock painting
  • Interactive booths from local groups, including Bird Friendly Halton Hills, Halton Environmental Network, Halton Hills Nature, Halton Butterflyway, Town of Halton Hills, Trees for Halton Hills and Willow Park Norval
  • Free halal hot dogs provided by Maple Lodge Farms
  • Cupcakes and refreshments (vegan and gluten-free options available)

“Over the past five years, the Town has collaborated with Credit Valley Conservation, local groups, residents, businesses and schools to protect and enhance our treasured Hungry Hollow ravine in the Delrex neighbourhood,” said Mayor Ann Lawlor. “It’s an oasis in the middle of Georgetown where we can connect with nature and where nature helps sustain our community. I’m proud and passionate about our efforts in the Hollow. We’re cleaning up our environment, building climate resilience and making it healthier and more enjoyable for everyone. Hope to see you at the celebration!”

The Hungry Hollow SNAP responds to local environmental challenges and community priorities by envisioning a healthy, climate-resilient neighborhood enriched with natural spaces and green infrastructure. The action plan is grounded in a shared vision for the neighbourhood’s future, co-created through meaningful engagement with residents and project partners.
