Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) invites the community to the Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area (JTLCA) Public Information Session hosted on Thursday, November 27, 2025, to learn about the new park opening in spring 2026. Visitors can drop-in anytime between 6 and 8:30 p.m. at the Small Arms Inspection Building, 1352 Lakeshore Road East, Mississauga.
The Public Information Session is an opportunity for the community to learn how the conservation area is taking shape and the vision for its future, what wildlife has already moved into the natural space and provide ideas and feedback to CVC. A photo exhibition showcasing the park’s transformation will also be on display. Complimentary refreshments will be served.
“As we get closer to our spring opening date, we’re excited to share the latest progress on the Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area with the community,” said Jesse DeJager, Acting Director, Parks, Lands and Community Engagement at CVC. “This park is transforming the Mississauga shoreline, providing new habitat for wildlife, supporting healthy communities with over three kilometres of new trails and creating invaluable greenspace for the whole community to enjoy.”
CVC is working in partnership with Peel Region and Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, with support from the Cities of Mississauga and Toronto, to create a new waterfront conservation area that will connect people to nature. JTLCA will provide 26-hectares of new greenspace along the Lake Ontario shoreline at the Mississauga-Toronto border. The waterfront is being transformed into a hub for passive waterfront recreation, a hotspot for wildlife migration and a green oasis in the heart of the city.
Visitors can also learn how Peel Region is upgrading the GE Booth Water Resource Recovery Facility to enhance capacity and expand odour mitigation. City of Mississauga staff will be available to share details about Lakeview Village Parks.
Attendees are encouraged to register for the information session at cvc.ca/JTLCAInfo.
About Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area (JTLCA)
Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area is named in honour of Jim Tovey, former Mississauga Councillor and dedicated CVC Board of Director, and is the culmination of over a decade of planning and construction. Through a series of consultations with Indigenous partners, community members and partner organizations, we’re building an accessible network of trails, boardwalks, lookouts and gathering spaces. These new amenities at the conservation area will showcase the site’s diverse cultural and ecological history, while providing scenic connections to wetlands, grasslands, forest environments and Lake Ontario.
About Credit Valley Conservation (CVC)
Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is a local conservation authority established by the Ontario government in 1954 to protect, restore and enhance the natural environment of the Credit River Watershed. That watershed is the area of land where all rainfall, snowmelt and runoff drains (”sheds”) into lands and waters flowing into the Credit River. CVC creates connections between people and nature, knowledge and action. It inspires a deep appreciation for the role of nature in keeping people connected, healthy and happy. CVC is a member of Conservation Ontario.
