CVC Seeks Nominations for Environmental Awards as the Program Marks 40 Years of Impact

Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) celebrates individuals and organizations that make a lasting impact on our local environment through its annual Friends of the Credit Conservation Awards. As the program enters its milestone 40th year, CVC invites the community to shine a spotlight on those who protect, restore and enhance our natural spaces.

Do you know someone whose dedication is creating a healthier, more sustainable environment? Nominate them today and join CVC in recognizing the champions who are caring for the Credit River Watershed.

“CVC’s Board of Directors and staff proudly celebrate the incredible people who help our watershed thrive,” said Holly Nadalin, Manager of Community Outreach and Education at CVC. “This milestone year is a tribute to the passion and dedication of our communities. For 40 years, we have achieved so much together, and we will continue celebrating the environmental champions who protect and enhance our community.”

Nominations are open to businesses, municipalities, schools, community groups, landowners and individuals who take on a leadership role to ensure a greener future. Projects can include:

  • Landowners who have taken action to protect and restore nature on their property.
  • Local businesses, municipalities or regional governments who have adopted innovative or ‘green’ approaches to infrastructure.
  • Individuals or businesses that donate land or funds to purchase land ensuring its long-term protection.
  • Youth or individuals who have taken action to protect and improve the natural environment in their community.
  • Leadership and initiatives focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion, that engage people of diverse backgrounds and cultures to take part in environmental activities that support a sustainable future.

CVC is seeking submissions from the public in the following eight categories:

  • Youth Achievement
  • Outstanding Volunteer
  • Environmental Awareness
  • Landowner Stewardship
  • Corporate Leadership
  • Green Cities
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership
  • Watershed Excellence

Nominations can be submitted on CVC’s website until February 20, 2026. The CVC Board of Directors review all nominations and select award winners. For more information about the awards program, including award descriptions and eligibility, visit cvc.ca/ConservationAwards.

About the Conservation Awards Program

The Conservation Awards program began in 1986. Awards are presented by CVC’s Board of Directors to honour those who demonstrate the organization’s core values of leadership, collaboration, innovation and integrity through environmental practices. Since the program began, CVC has recognized hundreds of community leaders for work that connects people to nature, knowledge to action and inspires a deep appreciation for the local environment. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the awards program.

Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is a local conservation authority established by the Ontario government in 1954 to protect, restore and enhance the natural environment of the Credit River Watershed. Our watershed is defined by the area of land where all rainfall, snowmelt and runoff drains into lands and waters flowing into the Credit River.
