Last night, Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) hosted a special Friends of the Credit event, marking its 40th anniversary of the Conservation Awards program. The event took place at Cambium Farms in Caledon and was an opportunity to celebrate and connect with 90 like-minded environmental champions who care deeply for the environment. Highlights of the evening included the presentation of CVC’s Conservation Awards, acknowledging their vital support for conservation work taking place in the Credit River Watershed.
“For 40 years, the Friends of the Credit Conservation Awards have shone a spotlight on the people and organizations doing remarkable work to protect the Credit River Watershed,” said Terri LeRoux, Chief Administrative Officer at CVC. “This year’s recipients are showing up in big ways for their communities and the environment, and we’re grateful for the energy, ideas and care they bring to this work. They remind us what’s possible when leadership, creativity and a deep commitment to nature come together to build a healthier, more resilient future.”
CVC recognized conservation efforts with twenty-one award recipients in seven categories, including: Youth Achievement, Outstanding Volunteer, Environmental Awareness, Landowner Stewardship, Green Cities, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership and Watershed Excellence.
40 Years: Celebrating Environmental Work in the Credit River Watershed
The Friends of the Credit Conservation Awards were established in 1986 by CVC’s Board of Directors to honour those in the community who exemplify the organization’s core values of leadership, collaboration, innovation and integrity through environmental practices.
Awards are issued for work that protects and enhances the local environment, educates and connects the community to nature and fulfills CVC’s mission to protect and restore the Credit River Watershed through on-the-ground action. Since the program began, CVC has recognized hundreds of community leaders.

About Credit Valley Conservation (CVC)
Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is a local conservation authority established by the Ontario government in 1954 to protect, restore and enhance the natural environment of the Credit River Watershed. That watershed is the area of land where all rainfall, snowmelt and runoff drains (”sheds”) into lands and waters flowing into the Credit River. CVC creates connections between people and nature, knowledge and action. It inspires a deep appreciation for the role of nature in keeping people connected, healthy and happy. CVC is a member of Conservation Ontario.
