Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) invites rural landowners to a free workshop on invasive plants on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Warwick Conservation Centre. Join us between 10 a.m. and noon at 15526 Heart Lake Road, Caledon Village.
“This workshop will give landowners the tools and resources they need to protect their land from invasive species while supporting healthy forests and ecosystems in the Credit River Watershed,” said Kate Hayes, Senior Manager, Ecosystem Restoration & Management at Credit Valley Conservation.
Invasive species are changing forests across Ontario. Left unmanaged, they can out-compete native species and even block access to parts of your property.
At this interactive workshop participants will learn:
• How to recognize key invasive plant species in Ontario and understand their impacts on native ecosystems.
• Practical control techniques and best management approaches for rural properties.
• What funding programs are available to support landowners in starting management projects.
This workshop is being facilitated by CVC’s Rural Residential Engagement team who work with private landowners to sustainably manage their land and water features on their property.
The event is free and open to rural landowners in the Credit River Watershed. Check if your property is within the watershed by looking up your address.
Registration is required by October 14 at cvc.ca/event/reclaim-your-forest-hands-on-solutions-for-invasive-plant-control/.
Can’t attend the workshop? Connect with a stewardship coordinator to discuss opportunities on your property.
About Credit Valley Conservation (CVC)
Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is a local conservation authority established by the Ontario government in 1954 to protect, restore and enhance the natural environment of the Credit River Watershed. That watershed is the area of land where all rainfall, snowmelt and runoff drains (”sheds”) into lands and waters flowing into the Credit River. CVC creates connections between people and nature, knowledge and action. It inspires a deep appreciation for the role of nature in keeping people connected, healthy and happy. CVC is a member of Conservation Ontario.
