Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) invites visitors to embrace the sweetness of maple season with two unique experiences at Terra Cotta Conservation Area in Halton Hills. Guests can choose between a daytime, hands‑on workshop or an enchanting maple‑themed evening in the sugarbush, hosted at the park on select days from April 4 to 12. These one‑of‑a‑kind special events highlight the heritage, flavours and traditions of maple syrup production in Ontario.
Sap to Syrup: A Maple Syrup Making Experience
Step into Terra Cotta Conservation Area’s sugar shack for an immersive maple syrup making workshop with CVC’s experienced staff. - Learn how to identify and tap sugar maple trees
- Collect fresh sap and use an evaporator to create maple syrup
- Measure sugar content and understand syrup grading
- Sample maple syrup and prepare their own bottle to take home
With only 10 tickets per session, this experience offers a personalized, hands‑on connection to the maple syrup making process. Participants must be 14 years or older.
Lamplight: Maple Syrup After Dark
Terra Cotta Conservation Area transforms into a glowing celebration of maple season as night settles over the sugarbush. This magical evening begins with an educational wagon ride into the illuminated forest, where guests will explore the rich history of maple syrup in Canada. The event also features:
- Fresh maple taffy
- A maple-inspired tasting menu
- A maple-themed cocktail or mocktail served in a souvenir glass
