Be an Environmental Leader
We invite high school students to take part in Frontline, our volunteer environmental leadership program.
The program includes:
- Workshops for participants approximately once a month from September to May
- Environmental action in the community
- Outreach activities to peers and the local community
Each year, the program focuses on a different local environmental theme to build leadership skills.
Participants are eligible for an EcoAmbassador Award based on their contribution to the program and outreach actions.

- We organize events approximately once per month from September to May.
- Events are often held at our Head Office or an alternate location
- Participants must be able to get to our Head Office or event location as we typically do not provide rides.
- Participants are eligible for volunteer hours. These are granted for hours contributed to events and outreach activities.
To participate, you must:
- Be at least 14 years of age
- Be a resident of the Credit River Watershed
- Attend high school
- Be able to get to/from our Head Office for meetings and event locations
- No experience required!
- The program is designed to give high school aged youth an opportunity to connect with nature and take part in environmental activities.
- Youth can earn hours of community involvement towards required volunteer hours for graduation.
- Participants must be at least 14 years of age and attending secondary school. Participants much also live or go to school in the Credit River Watershed.
- The Frontline program is free thanks to generous support of funders and is offered to youth within the Credit River Watershed.
- Participants are responsible for their own transportation to/from event sites.
- Frontline participants act as a liaison between CVC and their school or community groups.
The wellbeing of our participants and staff is our top priority. Participants are required to follow COVID-19 best practices and safety protocols:
- Stay at home if you are feeling sick, if you have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive or are under self-quarantine.
- Practice physical distancing and best hygiene practices in compliance with local and provincial guidelines. We will do everything we can to ensure participants maintain physical distancing at our events. Staff and participants will be asked to wear a face mask in vehicles if distancig cannot be maintained.
- Bring your own snacks, lunch and water.
- Bring your own mask and gloves.
- Equipment and supplies, such as shovels, will be provided but you can bring your own shovel.
- Dress for the weather and wear long pants and closed-toe shoes or boots.
- You must acknowledge and read all CVC waivers and forms.
- You must also bring a Frontline waiver form signed by a parent/ guardian (no digital signatures) in order to participate in the event.
- Online registration and COVID-19 pre-screening are required. You must complete the online self-screening 24 hours before an event and upon arrival at the event.
- You will receive notification if events change or are cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
