Learn to Identify Invasive Plants at Fairy Lake and Prospect Park
Bring the family and discover how to identify phragmites, understand its impacts on wetlands and wildlife, and learn what is being done to manage its spread. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, local resident, or simply interested in protecting our environment, this is a great opportunity to explore the shoreline, ask questions and connect with others who care about healthy ecosystems.
Drop by early to enjoy FREE light food and refreshments.
Event Notes:
- Wear a hat, and closed-toe shoes.
- Your own reusable water bottle (we have water to refill from).
- Sunscreen and bug spray.
- Bring a smartphone or tablet with the iNaturalist app downloaded and ready to use. During the walk, you'll learn to use iNaturalist to identify invasive species and record observations to help track presence and spread.
- Accessibility: This walk is slow paced and will be on mostly flat surfaces but may also follow a mix of paved paths, and sidewalks. Please notify us of any accessibility requirements during the registration process.
