Growing the Long-term Potential of Your Woodlot

Harvest Potential With Our New Online Tool

Alex Hartnett knows a thing or two about harvesting the potential of her woodlots. In spring 2025, we partnered with her to plant over 2,000 trees across her property. The goal was to help shield agricultural fields from erosion, protect ponds from road pollution and increase overall forest cover.

This work was completed through CVC’s Tree and Shrub Planting Program, which includes perks like post-planting monitoring. And now, we’re introducing a new tool to help Alex, and other landowners with woodlots, enhance their woodlot management practices.

New Online Tool for Woodlots

As a woodlot matures, its potential and benefits continue to grow. As the saplings on Alex’s property develop into mature trees, they’ll enhance the older, already-existing woodlots, increasing forest cover and connecting vital habitat for wildlife.

Mature woodlots can become recreational space, sources of future income, hubs for biodiversity and more. Our new online assessment tool can help keep your woodlot healthy so you can enjoy its many benefits for years to come.

After completing the online module, you’ll receive instant recommendations tailored to your woodlot and property. Your assessment might highlight the need for a forest management plan or more frequent monitoring for tree diseases. You’ll also receive useful tips and resources to help you act on the recommendations.
