Watershed Planning and Regulation Policies

We’re Updating our Policies

We’re doing a policy conformity review of the Watershed Planning and Regulation Policies, April 2010.

CVC regulates development in hazardous lands to avoid the loss of life and damage to property due to flooding and erosion, and also regulates development within wetlands.

We follow our Watershed Planning and Regulation Policies when considering planning and development related matters. This enables us to provide a consistent framework for applicants and provides a clear outline on CVC’s policy framework for stakeholders and the general public.

What’s New in the Draft Policy

We have updated this policy to reflect the current status of CVC’s role in plan input, plan review and CVC’s regulatory functions and requirements. The updates ensure our policies are:

  • Consistent with new legislative and regulatory requirements in Ontario Regulation 41/24: Prohibited Activities, Exemptions and Permits.
  • Updated in relation to industry standards and best practices in watershed planning, natural hazards management and water resource protection.
