Credit Valley Conservation Celebrates Cooksville SNAP Action Plan Launch with Tree Planting Event

May 12, 2025—On Saturday, May 10, Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) celebrated the Cooksville Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP) launch at Cooksville Park.

Cooksville residents, along with CVC, City of Mississauga and Peel Region staff and CVC Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Quentin Hanchard, planted trees to celebrate this milestone.

The Cooksville SNAP Action Plan aims to make Cooksville Creek and the surrounding neighbourhood healthier and more resilient to climate change. This comprehensive and tailored strategy addresses local environmental challenges and community interests, while aligning with municipal and regional priorities.

“It’s truly a privilege, to see the Cooksville community join us with such dedication to working with us towards our shared goal of achieving on the ground results.” says Quentin Hanchard, Chief Administrative Officer at CVC. “Throughout our more than 70-year history, CVC has always been an organization that is in the community and for the community.”

“We are excited to launch the Cooksville SNAP Action Plan and engage the community in meaningful climate action,” said Jessica Obodoechi, Senior Coordinator, Sustainable Neighbourhoods at CVC. “Tree planting is a wonderful way to kick off this initiative, as it represents growth, sustainability and community collaboration.”

The Cooksville SNAP Action Plan outlines 29 recommended actions focused on key priorities such as stewardship of natural areas, sustainable practices on private properties and strong community engagement. Early actions such as litter clean-up in parks, invasive species removal, tree planting in residential yards and Cooksville Park, as well as sustainable home landscaping programming are underway.
