Long Term Trail Closure

• While construction of the linear works for the Erin Wastewater System Project and restoration is ongoing, the trail will be open to the public. Sections of the trail are now closed until approximately September 2027. The CVC-owned portion of the ECT between 6^th Line and Trafalgar Road in Hillsburgh and the portion between Main Street, Erin Village to Cataract Road, Town of Caledon will remain open during construction. August 4th Trail Closure

• The Elora Cataract Trail will be closed from Station St. to 6^th Line on Tuesday, August 4^th from 8am to 5pm. Please use the alternate route along Station Street and Side Road 24 for a through route.

Lake Conditions

• High winds, personal watercraft only. Red Flag. 

Sales and Rentals

• Paddlecraft rentals are available online here.
  • It is recommended to make a reservation in advance for weekends.
• Walk-in Paddlecraft rentals are available, weather permitting.
• Picnic facility rentals are available. Reservations can be made here.

Facilities

• The boat washing station is currently out of order. Please check back here for updates.

Station 1-3 on the Lakeside Trail is closed until mid December 2026.

• We are working on improvements to the park.  Station 1 – 3 on the Vicki Barron Lakeside Trail (orange trail on the map) will be closed for boardwalk replacement until mid-December 2026. Trail access at 4th Avenue and Hwy 10 will remain open for visitors. 
• The Vicki Barron Lakeside Trail will not be a loop trail during this closure and you will have to retrace your steps to get back to the place you started from. Please plan accordingly. 
• Note this closure has been extended due to required project design changes.

Activities

• Fishing is open.
  • Panfish, Northern Pike and Bass are in season.
    • Bass is catch and release only.
• Live bait from outside the conservation area is not permitted.
• Electric trolling motor boats permitted. No gas motors.

Parking

• Parking is only available at Marie Curtis Park located at 2 Forty Second St., Etobicoke.
• There is no parking at the conservation area.
• Visitors must enter and exit through Marie Curtis Park.

Activities

• Cycling and hiking from the accessible Waterfront Trail; hiking and birdwatching from smaller paved trails and boardwalks.
• Please note that swimming, fishing, and other water activities are not permitted.

• Walk-in canoe and fishing kayak rentals are available, weather permitting.
• Canoe and fishing kayak rentals are available online here.
  • It is recommended to make a reservation in advance for weekends.
• Kayaks and one stand up paddleboard are available for rent through Paddle On Demand and the Share Kayak app.
  • Because of cellular reception at Ken Whillans, it is recommended to download the Share Kayak app before arriving at the park.

• Please consider visiting on weekdays or early mornings/late afternoons on weekends and holidays. 
• Please stay off the arch at the mill ruins; the infrastructure is not suitable or safe for people to stand on.

Trail Status

• Region of Peel construction work on the new pump station at the Silver Birch entrance is currently underway. The trail access from Silver Birch (Station 15 on the map) is closed to the public.
