Hybrid Workshop: Join us in-person or Online
The Real-Time Water Quality program of Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is proud to host our annual water quality workshop. Every year, we host a workshop on a water quality topic relevant to the work we do that year.
In the past, topics have included road salt, cyanobacteria, and water quality modeling. Recently, we received funding from the Canada Water Agency to develop a Hotspot Identification Tool (HIT), based on a workflow we originally developed in 2018. The rural tool uses Stream Power Index to rank rural areas within a catchment based on their vulnerability to gully erosion.
The watershed tool (more focused on urban areas) ranks different land uses for their sediment and sediment-bound phosphorus loading using Event-Mean Concentrations (EMCs). These ArcGIS-based tools are open source.
Their application will be shown at the workshop, including a live demo and discussion of the underlying concepts.
