Discover Top Native Plants for Creating Beautiful Bird-friendly Yards That Support Local and Migratory Birds

Birds bring colour, music and joy to any yard. Discover the most common and unique birds in your neighbourhood and how native trees and shrubs can attract them. Other topics that will be covered are local native plants, common threats birds face and how to keep them safe.

This workshop is designed for urban residents living in Cooksville SNAP, but anyone is welcome to join.

What to Wear

  • Dress for the weather and the conditions.
  • In case of rain, this event will be moved to May 8, 2025.

What to Bring

  • Your own reuseable water bottle.
  • Sunscreen and bug spray.

2025 Neighbourhood Tree Giveaway

Homeowners on less than one acre in Inglewood, Georgetown’s Hungry Hollow SNAP, Brampton’s Fletchers Creek SNAP and Community Tree Project neighbourhoods, and Mississauga’s Cooksville SNAP can sign up to receive a free tree that CVC's home planting team will deliver and help plant. Limit of one free tree per household in 2025.
