Plan a day of fun outdoor activities for the whole family!

Start your visit with a wagon ride to the sugarbush at the most magical time of day. Enjoy the golden light of late afternoon to twilight surrounded by sugar maple trees. Learn about how maple syrup is made with sap from this special forest and see a demonstration of traditional and modern maple syrup making tools.

Try taffy, maple syrup samples, hot drinks, and make s’mores over a campfire. Children will receive a free wooden tree cookie to remember their day.

You are welcome to bring nut-free snacks that fit in a back pack or side bag. Purchase maple syrup or maple products before or after your experience.

$20 each plus tax. Recommended for families with children aged 12 years and under. Parents or guardians must accompany children. The recommended experience time is 1.5 hours. Click on the wagon ride time to book your reservation.

Celebrate Maple Season at our Annual Festival

Thank you to everyone who joined us this year!

Experience the Canadian tradition of maple syrup production through interactive demonstrations and kids activities. Explore the outdoors as you hike to the sugarbush. End your visit with a pancake breakfast with real maple syrup and a treat from the Park Store.

Family Activities Include:

  • Explore five educational stations with historical and modern demonstrations of how sap turns into maple syrup:
    • Sweetwater Discovery: Learn about possible ways that Indigenous Peoples may have made syrup and sugar from maple sap 
    • Settled into Spring: Watch historical demonstrations of how settlers created maple syrup
    • The Tool Shoppe: Don’t miss this interactive demonstration of both traditional and modern tools used for making maple syrup 
    • The Sugar Shack: See how we create maple syrup today using modern techniques
    • Changing Seasons: Understand how climate change impacts maple syrup production  
  • New! Sacred Fire Chats
    • Sip on cedar tea and learn about Indigenous culture from Traditional Helpers (Oshkabewis) and a Fire Keeper through storytelling and song
  • Blacksmith Demonstration: A traditional demonstration of making iron tools by hand
  • Find all 10 stations in our scavenger hunt and present your completed card at the Park Store for a free prize (while supplies last)
  • Go on a maple-themed storybook walk along the Wetland Trail
  • Try warm maple taffy (additional cost)
  • Fill up at the Pancake House, choose from a selection of pancakes with real maple syrup and other maple-themed items (additional cost)
  • Follow the Sap Bucket Trail through the forest to the sugarbush to see where sap is collected (approximately 1 kilometre hike from the main event area)
  • Buy maple syrup and maple products, or merchandise by local artisans at the Park Store (additional cost)

Frequently Asked Questions about Maple Syrup in the Park

Purchasing tickets in advance is encouraged as it guarantees entry.

Walk-ins are accepted as capacity allows. 

Most visitors spend up to three hours at Maple Syrup in the Park. Peak times for Maple Syrup in the Park are between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We recommend arriving earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon. 

We encourage you to arrive before 3:30 p.m. The Pancake House stops orders at 4:30 p.m. and closes at 5 p.m. 

This is an outdoor event. Dress for the weather. Hats, mitts and warm coats are recommended on cold days. Expect wet or muddy areas in some areas of the park.

Maple Syrup in the Park pricing is in effect during the event for all visitors to Terra Cotta Conservation Area.

Equipment rentals and winter activities will not be available.

Log into the account from which you purchased your Credit Valley Parks Pass.

Conservation Parks memberships sold through Toronto and Region Conservation Authority do not quality for free admission to Maple Syrup in the Park.

Get free tickets by calling 1-800-367-0890, press 0. You must bring the card and present it to staff upon arrival. Tickets through the library program are not available online.

Walk-ins must bring the card to receive free entry, as capacity allows.

Please refrain from taking photos of the sacred fire.

Yes, dogs are permitted during Maple Syrup in the Park. However they may not enter the Pancake House or Sugar Shack.

Dogs must be a leash six feet or less. Please pick up after your pet.

Yes, you are welcome to bring a group to Maple Syrup in the Park. We encourage you to purchase tickets in advance. Group discounts are not available.  Please call ahead if your group will require drop-offs, have payment questions or you will be bringing a bus or large vans.

New this year, we also offer VIP Tours for groups on select days. Check out the details for these special events.

There will not be maple syrup events at Island Lake Conservation Area in 2024.

We invite everyone who has visited our maple syrup events at Island Lake in the past to visit us Maple Syrup in the Park at Terra Cotta Conservation Area, about a 30-minute drive from Orangeville.

Maple syrup is available for purchase at the the Island Lake Store in winter and spring. 

Adult and youth tickets are available. Admission fees for persons with disabilities apply to an individual, with a disability. No documentation is required. Purchase online or request this option from staff upon arrival. Support workers can accompany the individual at no charge where necessary.

Adults (age 15 and over): $10.50

Youth (age 6 to 14): $7.50

Children (age 0 to 5): free
