About the Community Tree Project

The Community Tree Project is a community-based tree planting and climate change awareness-building initiative. This project is running in select neighbourhoods in Brampton with the goal of creating a climate ready community. Climate change is making our cities hotter and drier. Trees cool our communities by creating important shade and reducing air temperatures. Trees also clean the air we breathe and improve mental health. By planting trees, together we can make our communities cleaner, greener and ready for climate change. Neighbourhood residents are invited to participate in tree planting, virtual presentations, neighbourhood walks and more. Visit cvc.ca/CommunityTreeProject for the latest project activities.

The Community Tree Project is led by Credit Valley Conservation and is funded in part by the Government of Canada with support from the City of Brampton.

Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is a local conservation authority established by the Ontario government in 1954 to protect, restore and enhance the natural environment of the Credit River Watershed. That watershed is the area of land defined by where all rainfall, snowmelt and runoff drains into lands and waters flowing into the Credit River. CVC creates connections between people and nature, knowledge and action. It inspires a deep appreciation for the role of nature in keeping people connected, healthy and happy. CVC is a member of Conservation Ontario.
