May 26, 2021 – Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) invites homeowners to its free gardening workshops in select neighbourhoods as part of the Community Tree Project. Residents will discover the beauty and benefit of trees and shrubs for their yard. Attendees from the project neighbourhoods can sign up to receive a free tree that we’ll deliver and help plant.
The Community Tree Project neighbourhoods are generally south of Williams Parkway to the 407, and from Chinguacousy Road west to McMurchy Avenue. Visit cvc.ca/CommunityTreeProject to look up your address.

Is your yard healthy and thriving? Discover top tips to keep your trees and shrubs happy, including tips on watering, mulching, and pruning.
“Our workshop series shows residents how trees in their gardens and yards not only add beauty, but also create cooling shade,” says Melanie Kramer, CVC’s Senior Coordinator of Sustainable Home Landscapes. “Together, we can make our communities more resilient to the impacts of climate change.”

About the Community Tree Project
The Community Tree Project is a community-based tree planting and climate change awareness-building initiative. This project is running in select neighbourhoods in Brampton with the goal of creating a climate ready community. Climate change is making our cities hotter and drier. Trees cool our communities by creating important shade and reducing air temperatures. Trees also clean the air we breathe and improve mental health. By planting trees, together we can make our communities cleaner, greener and ready for climate change.
