Fletchers Creek Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan Celebrates Five-Year Anniversary

September 26, 2024Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) invites the community to attend the Fletchers Creek Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP) five-year anniversary event on Saturday, October 5, 2024. The free event runs from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Fred Kline Park, 9445 McLaughlin Road North, Brampton.

“We are excited to reach this milestone of the Fletchers Creek SNAP project,” said Melissa Williams, Senior Manager, Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement. “Fletchers Creek is a vibrant, active community whose residents are ready to engage in climate action. Together, we’re beautifying the neighbourhood, deepening connections with nature and protecting the environment.”

The Fletchers Creek SNAP project addresses local environmental challenges and community interests to make the Fletchers Creek neighbourhood more sustainable and ready for a changing climate. At the heart of the action plan is a collective, forward-looking vision for the neighbourhood developed in consultation with the community and project partners.

Participants at the event can take part in two morning activities, including a hands-on invasive species removal and a guided walk to learn how to identify local trees and birds.

Additional highlights of this free, family-friendly event include:

  • Free halal hot dogs provided by Maple Lodge Farms
  • Cake and refreshments
  • Wild Ontario booth, including the opportunity to meet birds of prey
  • Interactive booths from local community organizations, including Reconnect Brampton, Community Climate Council, City of Brampton, Peel Region, Centre for Energy Transformation and Brampton Environmental Alliance
