June 29, 2021 – Join Credit Valley Conservation and the Town of Halton Hills in celebrating the official launch of the Hungry Hollow Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP) – a local plan to help make the Hungry Hollow-Delrex neighbourhood more sustainable and climate resilient.
The Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan was developed by Credit Valley Conservation and the Town of Halton Hills in collaboration with local residents and community leaders. This action-oriented plan advances the Town of Halton Hills’ Climate Change Adaptation Plan and many other important local initiatives, like the Credit River-Hungry Hollow Centre for Biodiversity (a unique landscape that is a vital reservoir for biodiversity in the Credit River Watershed), while helping the community become more sustainable and resilient to the impacts of climate change. The SNAP was endorsed by Town of Halton Hills Council and CVC Board of Directors in 2020 and is the first of its kind in the Town of Halton Hills.
“The Hungry Hollow Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan is truly innovative approach to environmental and climate action,” said Deborah Martin-Downs, Chief Administrative Officer at Credit Valley Conservation. “The plan responds to the needs of the local community and local environment and we’re proud to have developed it in collaboration with our municipal partners and members of the community.”
“Over 400 individuals and groups shared their ideas for neighbourhood renewal during the action planning phase of the project,” said Andrew Kett, Senior Manager, Education and Outreach at Credit Valley Conservation “We’re eager to begin on-the-ground implementation in 2021.”
Hungry Hollow SNAP residents can help CVC mark this milestone by sharing a photo of nature in the SNAP neighbourhood between June 28 and July 18. Residents will also be receiving a printed Neighbourhood Guide in the mail to help them explore nature in their neighbourhood. To enter the contest, take a picture of a natural asset in the SNAP neighbourhood, post it on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram and tag #HungryHollowSNAP. Tell us where it is and why you love it for a chance to win a gift card from local businesses. Entries can also be submitted through email at [email protected].

Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is a local conservation authority established by the Ontario government in 1954 to protect, restore and enhance the natural environment of the Credit River Watershed. That watershed is the area of land defined by where all rainfall, snowmelt and runoff drains into lands and waters flowing into the Credit River. CVC creates connections between people and nature, knowledge and action. It inspires a deep appreciation for the role of nature in keeping people connected, healthy and happy. CVC is a member of Conservation Ontario.
