Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) invites the community to attend the Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area Open House on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Drop-in anytime between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. at the Small Arms Inspection Building, 1352 Lakeshore Road East, Mississauga.
“The Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area is a massively transformative waterfront project for the Mississauga shoreline,” said Jesse DeJager, Senior Manager, Land Planning and Capital Projects at CVC. “We’re excited to reveal the remarkable progress of this new greenspace coming soon to the Lakeview community.”
CVC, in partnership with Peel Region and Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) – with support from the Cities of Mississauga and Toronto – are working together to create a new waterfront conservation area that will connect people to nature. The Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area will provide 26-hectares of new greenspace along the Lake Ontario shoreline at the Mississauga-Toronto border. The waterfront is
being transformed into a hub for passive waterfront recreation, a hotspot for wildlife migration and a green oasis in the heart of the city.
Through a series of consultations with our Indigenous partners, community members and partner organizations, we’re building an accessible network of trails, boardwalks, lookouts and gathering spaces. These new amenities at the conservation area will showcase the site’s diverse cultural and ecological history, while providing scenic connections to wetlands, grasslands, forest environments and Lake Ontario.
Attendees can meet with CVC staff, learn about the project and provide feedback. Register at cvc.ca/JTLCAOpenHouse.
