Do you know someone who works hard to protect nature through on-the-ground action? Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is seeking nominations for their annual Friends of the Credit Conservation Awards. The awards program honours local environmental champions who deserve recognition for their efforts to protect, connect and sustain the natural environment.
The Conservation Awards program was established more than 30 years ago to recognize leaders in the watershed who undertake meaningful environmental work across the Credit River Watershed. CVC is encouraging the community to nominate environmental champions by November 23, 2021.
“Our awards program honours individuals, organizations and businesses who are leading important environmental work,” said Andrew Kett, Senior Manager of Education and Outreach at CVC. “It’s an opportunity to acknowledge people that go above and beyond in our community.”
The nomination process is open to businesses, municipalities, schools, community groups, landowners and individuals who take a leadership role to ensure a greener future. Projects can include:
- Landowners who have taken action to protect and restore nature on their property.
- Local businesses, municipalities or regional government who have adapted new approaches or green infrastructure.
- Individuals or businesses that donate land or funds to purchase land to ensure its long-term protection.
- Youth or individuals who have taken action to protect and improve the natural environment in their community.
CVC is seeking submissions from the public in the following categories:
- Youth Achievement
- Outstanding Volunteer
- Environmental Awareness
- Landowner Stewardship
- Corporate Leadership
- Green Cities
- Legacy Donor
- Watershed Excellence
The nomination process is open until November 23, 2021 and submissions can be completed online through CVC’s website. The CVC Board of Directors reviews all nominations and selects award winners.

Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is a local conservation authority established by the Ontario government in 1954 to protect, restore and enhance the natural environment of the Credit River Watershed. That watershed is the area of land defined by where all rainfall, snowmelt and runoff drains into lands and waters flowing into the Credit River. CVC creates connections between people and nature, knowledge and action. It inspires a deep appreciation for the role of nature in keeping people connected, healthy and happy. CVC is a member of Conservation Ontario.
