Richard Jones Park Invasive Species Pull

September 14 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Help us Restore Native Habitat for Wildlife

Join us to help make the Cooksville SNAP neighbourhood more sustainable and ready for a changing climate. This event is part of Cooksville Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP).

Join us to help control the spread of invasive species in Richard Jones Park. Participants will help remove invasive species that are impacting the survival of native plants and animals. These actions help restore habitat for our native wildlife to survive and allow a more diverse ecosystem to thrive. We will use tools like shovels and extractigators to remove small and medium sized invasive shrubs like European buckthorn, honeysuckle, etc.

Location: Meet us inside Richard Jones Park. Enter the park off of Given Road and walk the trail. Parking is available along Given Road. Please pay attention to road signs.

What to wear:

  • For your own safety, wear a hat, long pants, long socks (to tuck your pants into) and closed-toed shoes.
  • This is a rain-or-shine event. Please dress for the weather.

What to bring:

  • Your own reusable water bottle (we have water to refill from).
  • Sunscreen and bug spray.
