Five Years of Fletchers Creek SNAP
We’re celebrating five years of the Fletchers Creek Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP). The Action Plan is a collective, forward-looking vision for the neighbourhood developed in partnership with you, the community and project partners. Together, we’re beautifying the neighbourhood, deepening connections with nature and protecting the environment.
Success in Fletchers Creek
Because of the support from our Fletchers Creek community, we are proud to share that we have made progress on 26 of the 27 recommended actions outlined in the Action Plan. Over the past five years, we have:
- Planted 4,800 trees with the help of over 6,800 community members.
- Transformed over 2.5 hectares of land by removing invasive species and planting trees and shrubs.
- Installed the Glendale rain garden, one of the largest rain gardens in Canada
- Collaborated with local organizations to organize exciting events for the community. Thank you to our partners, Ecosource, Community Climate Council, Bike Brampton, People Against Littering, City of Brampton, Peel Region and more.
What’s Next?
As we look ahead towards our 10-year milestone, we are committed to fostering community and a love of nature while providing sustainable solutions. Our goal is to strengthen capacity and improve climate resilience for businesses and homeowners in the neighbourhood. With your help and input, more success is yet to come!
Connect and Engage
Our team has been busy with many projects throughout the watershed. Be a part of the change in your community by participating in our upcoming events or explore any of the rain gardens.
