CONDITIONS AT A GLANCE

Island Lake Conservation Area
  • Open 8a.m. until 6p.m. daily.
  • Skating trail and pond are closed until further notice. – Moonlight Skating will be available tonight  from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. on the lake RINK only. Remember this is outdoor skating on the lake. Snowshoeing on the lake is also permitted. Snowshoe rentals are available in limited quantities.
  • Island Lake Ice Fishing Derby has begun! Derby ends on February 18th at 3:00 p.m. Register at islandlakederby.ca
  • Trails are open. Please use caution as the conditions vary according to weather.
  • The North Shore parking lot is open.
  • Sections of the lake are closed off due to dangerous ice conditions, please obey all signs.
  • Island Lake Ice Conditions

  • Access to the lake is only safe from the two entrances off the main waterfront parking lot.
  • 2-3″ Emerald Shiner MINNOWS are available at our Rental Shop. $7/dozen, $10/dozen with bucket.

  • Ice huts, rods and all winter rentals available. This weekend is full for reservations. Reserve online at www.CVCparks.ca
  • Fishing licences are no longer available in Orangeville. See below for more information on where to get a fishing licence.
~  Lakeside Trail at Island Lake
  • Trail is open. Please use caution as the conditions van vary according to weather.

  • No winter maintenance.
  • 4th Avenue access parking: Please respect that Home Hardware is a private business and use only the 12 designated trail parking spaces generously provided. Additional access and parking information can be found by clicking the link the left.
Terra Cotta Conservation Area
  • Open 8:00 am – 6:00 pm daily.
  • Trails are open.  Please use caution as the conditions vary according to weather.
  • Skiing and snowshoeing rentals available.
  • Skating trail and rink are closed until further notice.  SKATING will be NOT open tonight for Moonlight  Event.  Skiing and Snowshoeing will be available on the trails only.
  • Road Construction:  As of June 25, 2018, portions of Winston Churchill Blvd will be closed for construction and road rehabilitation.  See details below.
Belfountain Conservation Area
  • CLOSED for the season. Reopens May 2019.
  • No access to the site is permitted.
Ken Whillans Resource Management Area
  • CLOSED for the season. Reopens April 2019.
  • Caledon Trail parking is closed for the season. Reopens in spring 2019 when conditions permit.
  • No access to the site is permitted.
Cheltenham Badlands
  • CLOSED for the season. Reopens May 2019.
  • No access to the site for parking or viewing the feature is permitted.

 OTHER NOTICES

  • GENERAL TRAIL USE:With more unpredictable weather it is common for trail or park closures due to high winds or severe or unsafe weather. If trail systems are marked as closed, please respect and obey all posted signs. For park updates and closures due to weather and trail conditions, CVC’s corporate website at www.cvc.ca will display a red headline box at the top of all pages. You may also check back here for park conditions.
  • WHERE TO GET A FISHING LICENCE:
  • ROAD CONSTRUCTION NEAR TERRA COTTA:  Please be aware that as of June 25, 2018, portions of Winston Churchill Blvd will be closed for construction and road rehabilitation.  This project’s estimated completion is May 2019, during which time Winston Churchill will have intermittent closures beginning at Olde Base Line. If travelling from Belfountain: Travel south on Mississauga Rd, west on King and north on Winston Churchill. If travelling from Orangeville: Travel south on Hwy 10, west on King and north on Winston Churchill.
  • BELFOUNTAIN CONSERVATION AREA PICNIC POLICY: Day camping is no longer permitted and all 10 available picnic tables now have a 30 minute maximum time limit to ensure that all visitors have access to resting areas if needed. No barbecues are permitted at Belfountain CA. When planning your 2019 outings visit Island Lake CA or Terra Cotta CA if you are interested in picnicking for periods longer than 30 minutes. If you would like to visit Belfountain, but have plans to picnic, remember you can use your receipt for free admission to any CVC parks the same day.
