CONDITIONS AT A GLANCE

FALL COLOURS CHANGE REPORT

Island Lake CA  5% – foliage on the Lakeside and Sugarbush trails

Terra Cotta CA  5% – foliage in all parts of the park

Belfountain CA  5% – limited foliage in the park, except on the Trimble Trail

Ken Whillans RMA  5% – views of the foliage along the escarpment

Cheltenham Badlands  5% – foliage in all parts of the park

When colours are at their peak, there may be extended wait times and high volumes of people, so consider a weekday or early morning visit. Remember your admission receipt from one CVC park is valid for all CVC parks on the same day.

Island Lake Conservation Area
  • FALL HOURS :Daily 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. 
  • There is a GREEN flag on the water.
  • Rentals are OPEN. Personal watercraft are permitted.
  • Please check back or call 1.800.367.0890 for immediate condition.
  • ALL watercraft must be off the lake by 6:30 p.m.
  • Rentals can be made up until 4:30 pm.
  • Weeds are more common at the surface of the lake this time of year. See map below for areas that all trolling motors should avoid and where rental motors are not permitted.

  • NEW TRAIL SIGNAGE is now complete. The new signage will provide station numbers so  park staff can locate you on the trail or water, provide distance markers to important features and access points, show what you can and can’t do and colour code all the trails. Please note some older signage is in the process of being taken down.
  • 4th Avenue access parking: Please respect that Home Hardware is a private business and use only the 12 designated trail parking spaces generously provided. Trail users parking in undesignated parking spaces (the regular lot) will be towed at their own expense. Additional access and parking information can be found by clicking the link the left.
Terra Cotta Conservation Area
  • FALL HOURS ;  Daily 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. 
  • Visitors Welcome Centre is OPEN ON WEEKENDS.
  • The Shuttle service to Cheltenham Badlands will operate every weekend and holiday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. from Terra Cotta Conservation Area (with paid admission).  Last shuttle leaves Badlands for return to Terra Cotta CA at 4:30 pm.
  • Road Construction:  As of June 25, 2018, portions of Winston Churchill Blvd will be closed for construction and road rehabilitation.  See details below.
Belfountain Conservation Area
  • FALL HOURS;  Daily 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. 
  • There is no longer picnicking available, please see more information below.
  • This park is one of our most popular locations. Expect longer wait times and heavy traffic on weekends. Parking is limited so consider visiting in non-peak hours (early morning or late in the day).
Ken Whillans Resource Management Area
  • Open daylight hours Monday to Friday. Self Serve $5/car
  • Weekends and Holidays: Open 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Regular admission fees apply.
  • Rentals and personal watercraft are permitted on weekends and holidays ONLY.
Cheltenham Badlands
  • FALL HOURS ;  Daily 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. 
  • Badlands trail is OPEN.
  • The Shuttle service to Cheltenham Badlands will operate every weekend and holiday from 10:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. from Terra Cotta Conservation Area (with paid admission).  Last shuttle leaves Badlands for return to Terra Cotta CA at 4:30 pm.

OTHER NOTICES

  • GENERAL TRAIL USE:With more unpredictable weather it is common for trail or park closures due to high winds or severe or unsafe weather. If trail systems are marked as closed, please respect and obey all posted signs. For park updates and closures due to weather and trail conditions, CVC’s corporate website at www.cvc.ca will display a red headline box at the top of all pages. You may also check back here for park conditions.
  • WHERE TO GET A FISHING LICENCE:
  • ROAD CONSTRUCTION NEAR TERRA COTTA:  Please be aware that as of June 25, 2018, portions of Winston Churchill Blvd will be closed for construction and road rehabilitation.  This project’s estimated completion is November 29 2019, during which time Winston Churchill will have intermittent closures beginning at Olde Base Line. If travelling from Belfountain: Travel south on Mississauga Rd, west on King and north on Winston Churchill. If travelling from Orangeville: Travel south on Hwy 10, west on King and north on Winston Churchill.
  • BELFOUNTAIN CONSERVATION AREA PICNIC POLICY: Day camping is no longer permitted and all 10 available picnic tables now have a 30 minute maximum time limit to ensure that all visitors have access to resting areas if needed. No barbecues are permitted at Belfountain CA. When planning your 2019 outings visit Island Lake CA or Terra Cotta CA if you are interested in picnicking for periods longer than 30 minutes. If you would like to visit Belfountain, but have plans to picnic, remember you can use your receipt for free admission to any CVC parks the same day.
