January 26, 2023 – Oakville Councillor Tom Adams was elected as Chair of Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) at the inaugural 2023 board meeting held Friday, January 20. He has been a member of CVC’s Board of Directors since 2011 and this marks his second term as Chair. The CVC board consists of 12 municipal representatives from member municipalities within the Credit River Watershed.
“I thank the board members for their continued support as we focus on protecting, restoring and enhancing our local natural environment,” said Councillor Adams. “Our Board will continue nurturing the connections between our dedicated staff, partners and community that sustain us as we face challenges to our watershed.”
Councillor Adams has served as an Oakville councillor for nearly 20 years. In addition to serving on the CVC Board of Directors and CVC Foundation Board, Adams has served previously on the Conservation Halton Board of Directors and is a Municipal Leader for the Greenbelt.
The CVC Board of Directors also elected City of Mississauga Councillor Matt Mahoney as Vice-Chair. Mahoney’s election marks his first year as Vice-Chair and his fifth year of service on the Board.
This year’s Board of Directors includes new and returning members from municipal councils throughout the watershed:

- Alvin Tedjo, City of Mississauga
- Rick Stevens, Town of Orangeville
CVC is accountable through its Board of Directors to the municipalities and residents in the Credit River Watershed. The board approves and guides CVC policies, programs, projects and sets its annual budget.
Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is a local conservation authority established by the Ontario government in 1954 to protect, restore and enhance the natural environment of the Credit River Watershed. Our watershed is the area of land defined by where all rainfall, snowmelt and runoff drains into lands and waters flowing into the Credit River. CVC creates connections between people and nature, knowledge and action. It inspires a deep appreciation for the role of nature in keeping people connected, healthy and happy. CVC is a member of Conservation Ontario.
