Planting on Your Property

Whether you are trying to increase wildlife habitat, aesthetics or income, planting native trees, plants and shrubs on your property will improve ecological health and enhance biodiversity.  Before taking on any restoration or naturalization projects, such as replanting and an old field or establishing a windbreak, it is important to consider past and current uses of the site, and take time to investigate other site features such as the topography of the land, soil type and moisture, and wildlife habitat.  For information on possible forestry stewardship planting goals or projects, review:  Selecting Native Plants; Planting Old Fields, and Planning to Plant.
