October 1, 2020 – Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is providing free in-person forestry advice to landowners interested in planting trees or managing their forests. Ask your questions and meet CVC’s forestry experts at TSC Stores Orangeville on Saturday October 17 from 8:00 a.m – 2:00 p.m.
Get planting tips and information about CVC’s full-service subsidized planting programs to grow forests on your land. The first 150 visitors will receive a free white spruce seedling to plant on their property.
“The in-store drop-in at TSC Stores Orangeville is an opportunity to learn about tree planting projects on your property, financial incentives and how to care for your forests,” says Kate Hayes, Senior Manager, Restoration and Management at CVC. “We make it easy to plant trees on your land with full-service tree planting and subsidies that can cover up to 90 per cent of the cost.”
Most of the land in the Credit River Watershed is privately owned. Private landowners have a unique opportunity to enhance the landscape and care for the environment by planting trees. There are many long-lasting benefits to planting trees. They’re beautiful and increase property value. They offer shade, filter water, capture carbon, prevent soil erosion and act as windbreaks. They also provide wildlife with food and shelter year-round.

Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is a local conservation authority established by the Ontario
government in 1954 to protect, restore and enhance the natural environment of the Credit River Watershed. That watershed is the area of land defined by where all rainfall, snowmelt and runoff drains into lands and waters flowing into the Credit River. CVC creates connections between people and nature, knowledge and action. It inspires a deep appreciation for the role of nature in keeping people connected, healthy and happy. CVC is a member of Conservation Ontario.
