September 7, 2011 – Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) invites residents in Caledon to attend a one-day local food workshop taking place on Saturday, September 17, 2011, in partnership with Eat Local Caledon as part of Eat Local Month.

September 2011 is the fourth annual Eat Local Month in Caledon, a month-long initiative dedicated to celebrating, supporting and strengthening Caledon’s local food and farming syste

During the workshop, attendees will learn about options for growing food sustainably on their rural properties. This workshop will feature presentations from local practitioners and experts. Morning activities include a guided hike to identify delicious wild plants, plus a seminar on innovative approaches to small fruit gardening. Afternoon topics will focus on starting a successful small farm business, with insights on managing your farm’s environmental impact and training programs for new farmers.

The workshop runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Millcroft Inn, 55 John Street, Alton. Cost is $20 half day or $25 full day; and includes a local food lunch specially prepared by the Millcroft Inn’s culinary experts. Register online at or call 1-800-668-5557 ext. 436.

Please note: Please bring appropriate clothing and footwear for walking outdoors if attending the morning session. We cannot accommodate children at this workshop.
