The Belfountain Complex is located on the Niagara Escarpment, within the Town of Caledon. It is one of CVC’s oldest and best known conservation areas. The 138 acre complex covers three separate properties:
- Belfountain Conservation Area
- Willoughby Property
- Cox Property
The complex is home to rare species and cultural heritage attributes. Management and visitor rates vary between the properties but they are linked by common geography and natural features. Long-term management of the entire complex will ensure that all features are protected and planned for meaningfully.
Why is CVC doing a management plan for the Belfountain Complex?
- Protect and manage natural and cultural heritage
- Plan recreation programs
- Improve visitor-related infrastructure
- Implement restoration and stewardship projects
