Credit Valley Conservation (CVC), in partnership with the Town of Halton Hills and P.O.W.E.R., invites residents to a tree planting festival in Glen Williams on Saturday Sept. 29, from 9 a.m. to noon. The festival will feature a display of local wildlife as well as family-friendly arts and crafts like bird feeder construction and more. The event takes place at Glen Williams Park, Glen Williams.

“Planting trees can have immediate positive effects on air and water quality,” said Mike Puddister, Director of Restoration and Stewardship for CVC. “This is an opportunity for families to get outside, connect with nature and do their part for the local environment.”

Participants will plant native trees and shrubs which will enhance the beauty of the local environment, provide habitat for wildlife and aide in the fight against climate change.

No tree planting experience is required and training will be provided. Participants are asked to dress for the weather, and wear long pants and safety boots if possible. Shovels and gloves will be provided but if participants have their own, they are encouraged to bring them. Light refreshments and snacks will be offered after the tree planting.

Please contact the Lindsey Jennings, Assistant Program Coordinator of Community Outreach for CVC at 905-670-1615 ext. 445 or [email protected] if you plan to attend.

Conservation Authorities are a provincial/municipal partnership. CVC was established by an act of the province in 1954 with a mandate to protect all natural resources other than minerals in the area drained by the Credit River. We have been working for over 50 years with our partner municipalities and stakeholders to protect and enhance the natural environment of the Credit River Watershed for present and future generations.
