Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011 – CVC invites all fishing enthusiasts to participate in the Annual Ice Fishing Derby at Island Lake Conservation Area. The event will kick off on Tuesday, Feb. 1 and runs throughout the month.

This year’s event features prizes for first, second and third longest Northern Pike, first longest Black Crappie and first longest Yellow Perch. Participants interested in competing are asked to register to be eligible for prizes. Those who register before Feb. 1 will be entered into an early bird draw for a chance to win a ”Paul Jr. Designs” Roadtrip Grill; donated in part by Coleman Canada and valued at $350.

To be eligible for prizes all fish must be caught and registered at Island Lake Conservation Area during posted hours of operation; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Entry tags should be picked up at the conservation area before fish can be entered. Registration for this event is $30, plus the cost of admission and can be handled in person or by calling 1-800-367-0890.

Throughout the Ice Fishing Derby, participants will have access to ice hut rentals, live bait, snacks and hole auguring. Ice fishing rods are also available on-site. For further information please visit or call 1-800-367-0890.
