22-51: Program Assistant, Rural Landowner Outreach

Summary of Functions

This position provides support to Credit Valley Conservation’s (CVC) Countryside Stewardship Program. This includes supporting the administration of CVC environmental grant programs, assisting with the delivery of rural landowner educational workshops and webinars, and working with internal staff and external stakeholders to meet program objectives.

Eligibility Requirements

Education

  • Post-secondary education at college/university level in environmental sciences/studies, ecology, geography, natural resource management, landscape architecture, planning or related discipline

Experience

  • Minimum two years of experience related to major tasks
  • Experience delivering outreach campaigns, tools and projects
  • Experience delivering adult environmental education programs and materials
  • Experience performing research and analysis
  • Experience engaging with members of the public and/or stakeholder groups

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

  • Working knowledge and understanding of environmental sustainability concepts and best management practices within or with reference to the rural landscape
  • Familiarity with community-based social marketing, behavior change theory and/or principles of risk management
  • Strong communication (verbal, presentations/visual and written) and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated organizational, administrative and research skills
  • Good computer skills, including spreadsheet development, database management, word processing, data entry, GIS and air photo/map interpretation
  • Able to work some evenings and weekends
  • Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario driver’s license required

Summary of Major Tasks

Education and Outreach

  • Support program staff in responding to landowner inquiries and conducting assessments of environmental best management practices
  • Support the delivery of environmental grant programs for landowners
  • Support the coordination and delivery of educational activities such as presentations, workshops and webinars
  • Support the development of educational tools and materials
  • Coordinate the installation of Caring for the Credit landowner signs

 Program Administration

  • Assist with the maintenance of program files, photos and materials
  • Enter data and conduct analyses related to program metrics for reporting
  • Assist with preparation of correspondence, project reports, meeting minutes and agendas

Vaccine Policy

New employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by the Ministry of Health as a condition of employment and must have satisfied the full post vaccination period required to ensure vaccination efficacy. The requirement to be fully vaccinated is subject to the Ontario Human Rights Code.  If you are not fully vaccinated, a documented medical reason provided by a physician or registered nurse and time period for the medical reason may be accepted.
