In the summer of 2018, CYC celebrated its 12th year of youth engagement and community environmental stewardship projects! To date, more than 2600 youth have volunteered with the CYC summer program and over 17,000 volunteered with the Branch Out program. Students have contributed more than 100,000 hours of work through 2,000 workdays over the past decade. This is equal to five full-time staff each year the program has operated.
CVC’s youth programs are generously supported by the Region of Peel and a variety of other partners through the efforts of the Credit Valley Conservation Foundation. Many supporters have been with us since the very beginning and play a critical role in the development of the programs. We extend our sincere thanks to all those who supported our youth programs in the past and continue to do so today. We’ll continue to make these programs valuable for participants and the community, relevant to the times and current environmental issues, and available to as many youth as possible.
The Region of Peel
The Region of Peel plays a major role in supporting CVC’s youth programming, and other initiatives that benefit watershed area residents. Funding supports the needs of our programs and helps them grow. CVC’s youth programs give students the opportunity to learn about the environment while getting hands-on experience that is making a difference in the community.
