VIDEO UPDATE: GTA’s Newest Waterfront Conservation Area Starting to Take Shape

Mississauga Ward 1 Councillor Jim Tovey and TRCA’s Mark Preston walk us through the current state of construction of the new conservation area at Lakeview. They mark an important milestone – closing off the first confinement cell in the construction process (late March).
The Region of Peel, Credit Valley Conservation and Toronto and Region Conservation Authority are creating a beautiful and naturalized conservation area that will transform Mississauga’s Lakeview neighbourhood into a hub for passive waterfront recreation, a hotspot for wildlife migration and a green oasis in the heart of the city.

Hi Wendy,
One of the great things about the new conservation area, is that we will be re-routing the Waterfront Trail to the actual waterfront. It currently runs along Lakeshore blvd in this particular area. The Waterfront Trail is a a dual use cycling and pedestrian trail. So, yes! Cycling will be encouraged along the waterfront trail, which will run through the new conservation area.
