It’s festival season!

The annual Salamander Festival takes place Saturday, September 26. Join the community, get outdoors and celebrate nature.  This fun family-oriented festival is named after the community’s famous resident, the Jefferson salamander. Not only does “Jeff” lend his name to the day-long event, but he is also in attendance!

The Jefferson salamander is found along the Niagara Escarpment, which runs through Belfountain. The Jefferson salamander is an important indicator species.  His presence, or lack of, tells us a lot about the health of the local environment.

This year we added a few new activities.  Events take place in the hamlet of Belfountain, as well as the conservation area.  Visit the artisans’ market and enjoy tasty treats at the food court, while listening to live local music.  After mingling with locals in the heart of the hamlet, stop by the conservation area for some hands-on fun! Meet “Jeff” and chat with our staff about this famous local resident, tie a fly with Izaak Walton Fly Fishing Club, participate in free yoga sessions and interact with live animals with Creature Quest – our featured attraction.

Don’t miss this fun family outing!
